EnterpriseSCHEDULE helps the Southwest Florida Water Management District stay afloat

The purpose of the Southwest Florida Water Management District is to manage the water and water-related resources within its boundaries. The District's mission is maintaining the balance between the water needs of current and future users as well as protecting and maintaining natural systems. The District issues water use permits to its customers and these permits and other regulatory procedures are managed in a database housed in their data center. More...

While attending HPWorld this week, it has become more and more apparent of the need to support multiple platforms in the batch-job scheduling environment.  HP alone has the platform requirements of OpenVMS, Tru64 Unix, HP-UX, Windows and Linux, all of which would need to be supported by a singular client. ISE is unique in the ability to support this requirement of hosting on all the required platforms, while being monitored and administered by a single client. This complex environment of cross-platform scheduling with multiple hardware vendors, has become the norm, rather than the exception and is well supported by ISE.

EnterpriseSCHEDULE

EnterpriseSCHEDULE has several features and benefits and one of them is that it is versatile and easy to manipulate time based controls...

Three distinct rescheduling methods are available, based on:

  1. start time and an interval.
  2. name and time of the day to run the job.
  3. a marked calendar (e.g. those days marked with an 'X') and the time of day.

Calendar based job scheduling enables you to create calendars that recognize holidays and weekends when jobs are not to run, and mark specific days on which jobs are to run.

Additionally you can create fiscal calendars for jobs concerning financial matters (such as periodic financial reports).

EnterpriseBACKUP

A backup is a copy of a file to off-line storage. Backups are important because they allow you to retrieve previous generations of a file even if it has been modified, damaged or deleted from your on-line directory. Because of the critical nature of many files, you need to copy the files to tape fairly often to:

  • allow for recovery from a disaster
  • provide for audits and legal requirements
  • free up space on the on-line disk

The type of backup job is specified by the MANAGER when he creates the backup job. At most sites, the MANAGER will set up daily incremental backups and weekly and/or monthly full backups. Unloading backups might be scheduled daily, weekly, monthly or yearly depending on the site. Check with your MANAGER to learn the schedule of backups at your site.

How do I move my schedule jobs, calendars and layouts from my test machine to my production machine?

  1. On your test machine, extract the jobs, calendars and layouts that you want to move. By using the different extract qualifiers and using wildcards, you can vary your selection from very specific items to everything in the database. The following is an example selecting everything in database. As a note, the schedule files with the "schedule" extension are assumed to be database source files. In this example we are creating a schedule database source file called "extracted_data.schedule". More...
