EnterpriseSCHEDULE

One of the many features of SCHEDULE is the execution methods...

Jobs can be grouped into `Job Sets'. This means you can initiate multiple copies of the same job stream to run simultaneously with different data sets, maintaining complete independence between each set.

All jobs include a series of user-definable attributes when they are submitted . These attributes define which queue to use, where to place the log file, what working set parameters to use and all other available command options.

A list of available script commands can be specified for a job, invoking the application it is designed to perform.

Jobs can be monitored because SCHEDULE provides several ways to monitor jobs in progress over the cluster or network. At the command level, you can run a continuous display monitor showing job progression, or enter script commands for snapshots of the scheduling queues and their entries.

You can select the Job Monitor Window which maintains a window on the screen tracking all activity. Finally on the MOTIF display, the Graphic Job Monitor can be invoked for graphic displays of the job network and its current state.

MEDIA includes many features designed to simplify and automate all aspects of media management. One of the highlights is that it's easy to manage media pools...

  • Pool management: All media are classified into one of three pools: AVAILABLE - those that can be allocated by a user on request; RELEASED - those that have been returned to the system but not yet made available by the Media Librarian; ALLOCATED - those that are currently in use and assigned to a specific user.
  • User allocations: Media can be easily allocated from the available pool, one at a time or in groups, via a simple command.
  • Automatic migration: Support software is provided for automatic recognition of expiration dates. Media can be automatically moved from the allocated pool to the released pool after expiration. After a holding period, they can be automatically moved into the available pool.

SCHEDULE Tool Tip

Can I convert existing jobs from BMC's CTRL-M Scheduler to ISE SCHEDULE jobs?

Yes. ISE's EnterpriseSCHEDULE comes with a HTML Application that converts your CTRL-M SCHEDULER environment to the ISE EnterpriseSCHEDULE environment. The conversion can be performed in a single pass or incrementally. Most features are converted including job definitions, prerequisite conditions, commands, resource conditions and rescheduling controls.
