EnterpriseSCHEDULE

EnterpriseSCHEDULE features the concept of workgroups. The basic functions of Workgroups are to:

  1. Enable the EnterpriseSCHEDULE database to be replicated physically across nodes
  2. Determine the way jobs run across any number of nodes in an enterprise

Workgroups feature the capability to apply load balancing to EnterpriseSCHEDULE job flow by determining the best way to distribute workload. For instance, you can apply more job runs to your more powerful servers and allow the jobs to run across multiple machines, alleviating the load on a single server. This can all be automated by establishing several simple parameters to the Workgroup which the jobs are running in.

A workgroup is considered to be two or more nodes in a networked environment that can have duplicate versions of the EnterpriseSCHEDULE database (through automated replication) and/or facilitates the execution of jobs on multiple nodes.

EnterpriseBACKUP

The MEDIA database is accessible on-line, allowing you to find any particular medium and what files it contains at any time, without having to mount each medium or rely on a manually updated information system. The database consists of information about every tape and removable disk or other storage device in the library. Whenever a medium is modified, the on-line information is automatically updated to reflect the new contents.

There are two types of informational files about media:

The header information file contains information about each medium, tape type, length, density, format, disk size, protection, initialization and availability status.
The contents information file is an optional on-line file that lists the contents of each medium, all of the files written on the medium and information about each file (creation date, version number, size). It is necessary to include a file specification in the DIRECTORY command to access the contents information file.

Both header and contents information files can be accessed using the MEDIA command DIRECTORY.

SCHEDULE Tool Tip

What are the space requirements of EnterpriseSCHEDULE and can I allocate that to multiple drives or partitions?

For Schedule the typical installation is in the path c:\Program Files\ISE\EnterpriseSCHEDULE also know as %schedule_library%.
      a) At %schedule_library% all of our executables, scripts and parameter files reside
      b) At %schedule_library%sch0_control is the beginning of the Schedule database tree
      c) At %schedule_library%sch0_temp is the default location of job log files. More...

SCHEDULE Tool Tip

What does The Energy Policy Act of 2005 say about Daylight Savings time and how does this affect EnterpriseSCHEDULE?

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 was signed into Federal Law on August 8, 2005 and changes the dates under which Daylight Saving Time (DST) is operational. This change might generate a problem is some areas, but with EnterpriseSCHEDULE no additional planning or work is required as the system will accommodate these changes without any user interaction.
