An online media database
The MEDIA database is accessible on-line, allowing you to find any particular medium and what files it contains at any time, without having to mount each medium or
rely on a manually updated information system. The database consists of information about every tape and removable disk or other storage device in the library. Whenever a medium is modified, the on-line
information is automatically updated to reflect the new contents.
There are two types of informational files about media:
The header information file contains information about each medium, tape type, length, density, format, disk size, protection, initialization and availability
status. The contents information file is an optional on-line file that lists the contents of each medium, all of the files written on the medium and information about each file (creation date, version
number, size). It is necessary to include a file specification in the DIRECTORY command to access the contents information file.
Both header and contents information files can be accessed using the MEDIA command DIRECTORY.

Tool Tip 1 - Displaying the complete log file
|
|
Why is the entire log file sometimes not displayed? If a line like
"************************ 66 lines omitted ************************"
appears in the middle of the job log file window, it means that the log file is longer than the default number of lines
displayed in the GUI.
To change the default number of lines displayed, select "Explorer..." in the submenu "Options" of the "File" menu and then select the "View
Log" tab. The following dialog will be displayed:
Changing these defaults and pressing ok will affect all subsequent viewing of log files.
To change the parameters just to view a particular log file, select the "View Specific log..." option instead of the "View Log" option, the following dialog will be displayed:

Tool Tip 2 - Viewing other user’s log files
|
|
When running ESchedule on a Windows 2003 Server, how do I allow other users to view my log files?
Simply, add a read privilege for other users at the log folder location. Typically, a default inheritance read privilege is
added to the parent folder such that newly created log files are readable by other users. System admins often create a group like SchedUser and add ESchedule users to the group. Then the parent log folder like
“%schedule_library%\sch0_temp” has a read inheritance privilege added for the group SchedUser.
The default location for logs files in ESchedule begins at the installed location under the
folder “sch0_temp”. Note: you can change the log location within an individual job definition on the submit property or for the entire ESchedule server by setting the log location parameter in
“sch0_parameter.dat”.
