An online media database
The MEDIA database is accessible on-line, allowing you to find any particular medium and what files it contains at any time, without having to mount each medium or
rely on a manually updated information system. The database consists of information about every tape and removable disk or other storage device in the library. Whenever a medium is modified, the on-line information
is automatically updated to reflect the new contents.
There are two types of informational files about media:
The header information file contains information about each medium, tape type, length, density, format, disk size, protection, initialization and availability status.
The contents information file is an optional on-line file that lists the contents of each medium, all of the files written on the medium and information about each file (creation date, version number, size). It
is necessary to include a file specification in the DIRECTORY command to access the contents information file.
Both header and contents information files can be accessed using the MEDIA command DIRECTORY.

Tool Tip - Remote Log in
|
|
How do I log in remotely as multiple users from the same Windows client?
If you are using the Windows client to connect to a EnterpriseSCHEDULE server from a single machine, you may notice that you only are prompted to enter your user name and password the first time you log in. After
your first log in, the local machine stores a record of your user information the first time and retrieves it on subsequent client sessions. But what if you want to use the client to connect to a server using a
different user. For example what if you want to do some administrative work from a regular users client machine.
In order to be prompted for a username/password everytime you connect to a remote server:
- Right click on the Windows desktop shortcut for EnterpriseSCHEDULE
- Select Properties from the pop up menu
- Enter –resetproxy at the end of the Target field, after the closing double quotes
This will continue to prompt for a new username/password each time you try to connect using that shortcut.
