EnterpriseSCHEDULE features a powerful tool called preprocessing that allows the substitution of a wide variety of local and global variables and parameters into
various parts of the job at the time the job is submitted. The basic premise behind preprocessing is that EnterpriseSCHEDULE jobs may require dynamic substitution of data each time the job is run. The substitution is automatically made at the time the job is submitted. How to Change the Data Columns Displayed in the Job Explorer

The right pane of the Job Explorer in the EnterpriseSCHEDULE Windows client interface contains valuable information about the jobs in the currently selected folder. Many of the listed job's properties can be displayed in column format so the user can locate jobs and identify recent and upcoming events.

CHANGING THE DATA COLUMNS

The user can choose what data is displayed in the column listings for jobs and in what order by doing the following:

Select a job directory in the left pane of the Job Explorer.
Right click on the job listing on the right pane of the Job Explorer.
Choose Select Columns… from the pop up menu that appears.
Select the Job Properties you would like to see appear in your job listing.
Click on Add Before >> or Add After >> depending on where you want to place the item from right to left in the column display.
Press OK to change the columns.

The changes will take effect the next time you open a new Job Explorer window.

EnterpriseBACKUP

Besides OpenVMS system backup, EnterpriseBACKUP also provides and online media database. The MEDIA database is accessible on-line, allowing you to find any particular medium and what files it contains at any time, without having to mount each medium or rely on a manually updated information system. The database consists of information about every tape and removable disk or other storage device in the library. Whenever a medium is modified, the on-line information is automatically updated to reflect the new contents. There are two types of informational files about media: The header information file contains information about each medium, tape type, length, density, format, disk size, protection, initialization and availability status.

The contents information file is an optional on-line file that lists the contents of each medium, all of the files written on the medium and information about each file (creation date, version number, size). It is necessary to include a file specification in the DIRECTORY command to access the contents information file. Both header and contents information files can be accessed using the MEDIA command DIRECTORY.
