An online media database
The MEDIA database is accessible on-line, allowing you to find any particular medium and what files it contains at any time, without having to mount each medium or
rely on a manually updated information system. The database consists of information about every tape and removable disk or other storage device in the library. Whenever a medium is modified, the on-line information
is automatically updated to reflect the new contents.
There are two types of informational files about media:
The header information file contains information about each medium, tape type, length, density, format, disk size, protection, initialization and availability status.
The contents information file is an optional on-line file that lists the contents of each medium, all of the files written on the medium and information about each file (creation date, version number, size). It
is necessary to include a file specification in the DIRECTORY command to access the contents information file.
Both header and contents information files can be accessed using the MEDIA command DIRECTORY. |
Tool Tip - Cell Phone Notifications |
|
Can I configure EnterpriseSCHEDULE to send text message notifications to my cell phone so I know if a job failed or completed successfully after I leave the office?
Many cellular carriers assign email addresses to cellular phone numbers and support SMS or text messaging by email. Though EnterpriseSCHEDULE can be configured to use third party applications to send pager/text message notifications, it can also send text notifications using this feature. You don't need to install special add-ins in Outlook to send text messages, but the recipient will need text messaging enabled on their cellular plan (most carriers enable it by default) and have a phone capable of receiving text messages (most new phones are text-capable). In addition, the server running EnterpriseSCHEDULE must have e-mail access to the internet.
The major US cellular carriers use the 10_digit_number@cell.carrier_domain.com format for SMS to text capable cell phones, with a limit of 160 characters in the subject and message body (total).

Since the limitation for text messages is 160 characters, notification text will be truncated. However, you can add your own Subject heading to the text message using the MAIL_SUBJECT=<subject_line_text> Control Phrase in the Message Text field of the Notifications tab.
