Automating Centricity Applications

Tool Tip: EnterpriseSCHEDULE Version 7.2 and above features automatic internet client licensing

Version 7.2 of EnterpriseSCHEDULE introduced a new automated licensing system that is tied to the new ISE Registrar site (http://registrar.i-s-e.com) . It is now easy to obtain a license without contacting the ISE Licensing Department.

When installing the software you will be asked for a username and password to license the client over the internet (if have not installed the client before or if your current license is invalid). If you have not obtained a personal user name and password from either the Registrar site or Support site (http://support.i-s-e.com) you may enter your compnay issued user name and password and you can create a personal profile.

Once your profile is created, the software will be automatically licensed over the internet and you may begin using the Windows client upon completion of the installation. Note that the node where you are installing the EnterpriseSCHEDULE client must have access to the internet in order for the licensing to work correctly.

You may also license the client once it has been installed by selecting Help > About Schedule… and clicking the License button.

Besides OpenVMS system backup, EnterpriseBACKUP also provides and online media database. The MEDIA database is accessible on-line, allowing you to find any particular medium and what files it contains at any time, without having to mount each medium or rely on a manually updated information system. The database consists of information about every tape and removable disk or other storage device in the library. Whenever a medium is modified, the on-line information is automatically updated to reflect the new contents. There are two types of informational files about media: The header information file contains information about each medium, tape type, length, density, format, disk size, protection, initialization and availability status.

The contents information file is an optional on-line file that lists the contents of each medium, all of the files written on the medium and information about each file (creation date, version number, size). It is necessary to include a file specification in the DIRECTORY command to access the contents information file. Both header and contents information files can be accessed using the MEDIA command DIRECTORY.
