SUNY State College of Optometry is first to integrate EnterpriseSCHEDULE with IDX for Windows

In a recent conversation with ISE, Michael Ochlan discussed how the school has automated some of its Windows IDX operations using EnterpriseSCHEDULE.  After meeting ISE at a IDX User’s conference, Michael worked with ISE technical staff to become the first integration of IDX for Windows with EnterpriseSCHEDULE. Using IDXterm, a proprietary scripting tool in learning mode, ISE was able to help Michael automate interactive procedures that require keystroke response.

Michael estimates that his  is the largest IDX for Windows installation in existence. He   is using EnterpriseSCHEDULE for copay automation, claim runs and claim edits, tasks that previously took up hours of his time. He is also doing weekly e-commerce, copay reallocation and is working on automating his month end processing. He also wants to begin automating weekly and monthly reports using the scheduler.

Michael says the implementation went very smoothly even though he was not familiar with IDXTerm. He said ISE worked with him for hours and that if he had a hurdle they kept digging until they found a solution. He also said that just the time he saved with the job automation is well worth the price. When asked how he feels about EnterpriseSCHEDULE he said the scheduler is “pretty amazing”. He said the product is excellent and has a lot of potential for future growth in his organization.

This Month's Tool Tips

What are Job Prototypes and how are they used in EnterpriseSCHEDULE?

SUMMARY

Job prototyping is powerful feature of EnterpriseSCHEDULE. It is specifically designed to simplify how jobs are viewed and created. In this article the tools and methods that are available are discussed. These features are available inside the Windows GUI client.

MORE INFORMATION

The features that will be discussed are:

Adjusting which tabs are present on the job properties display

Customizing the Options job property tab

Modifying the Submit dialog

Modifying the Complete dialog

Adding to the New job from... menu

Using a directory as a prototype group

Related pre-processing directives, include, set and replacement operators. When a new job is created from a job prototype all the attributes associated with that
prototype definition are copied into the new job. That is all static characteristics, for example how to submit the job, all job commands, all note definitions, all resource requirements etc. The only exception is the ownership, submit user, and notify username. These fields will be inherited from the user creating the job.

EnterpriseBACKUP

Besides OpenVMS system backup, EnterpriseBACKUP also provides and online media database. The MEDIA database is accessible on-line, allowing you to find any particular medium and what files it contains at any time, without having to mount each medium or rely on a manually updated information system. The database consists of information about every tape and removable disk or other storage device in the library. Whenever a medium is modified, the on-line information is automatically updated to reflect the new contents. There are two types of informational files about media: The header information file contains information about each medium, tape type, length, density, format, disk size, protection, initialization and availability status.

The contents information file is an optional on-line file that lists the contents of each medium, all of the files written on the medium and information about each file (creation date, version number, size). It is necessary to include a file specification in the DIRECTORY command to access the contents information file. Both header and contents information files can be accessed using the MEDIA command DIRECTORY.
